I've been a life member for years now.  Wonder why I don't have a little Life Member badge by my name?   ***pouts***

    Brain Surgery

Matt has had brain surgery.  It was yesterday and last about 6 1/2 hours.  The intent is to deaden the pathways that allow the seizures to take place.  This could potentially stop the seizures for the rest of his life (that's our hopes and prayers).  But only time will tell.

Right now, he's still in ICU with lots of facial and jaw pain and a headache.  That's understandable since they make about a 6" incision to peel back some scalp in the temporal area, cut an angle-sided hole through his skull, and then deaden the place that fires the seizures.  The the bone plug is put back in the hole with a small titanium plate and the incision sewn shut.

He may be out of ICU tomorrow and go to the stepdown unit.  After that, he'll get to leave when he's back to eating and walking okay.  So maybe, we'll get to come home Sunday.

    Ruby Memorial Hospital

I think this is an outstanding hospital at West Virginia University.  Another great thing here is the unique Rosenbaum House.  We did get to stay here after one night in a hotel.  This place is very secure, and it's joined right onto the hospital.  You don't even have to go outside to go from here to the hospital, or vice versa.  It's just an unbelievable place and the cost is $15 per night and it's better than any hotel around.  Besides the security, it provides a fully stocked kitchen, laundry rooms, lounges, and outside garden area, just a great place.

    The Fog

Still there, don't know if I'll ever be out.  But, maybe I can touch someone here and we'll help each other.

The FogWalker is thankful for the present success of the surgery.....and is still hurting from a migraine and trying to seek dark corners in a hosptial full of light....

  • I tried to comment the other day and it said "Page not found" then I tried to leave a message on your tagboard, but there was no submit button.  Very strange.  Your son's surgery sounds very hopeful!  It would be great if they could find a treatment for you, so you could get out of the fog.

You should ask someone at Xanga about your life icon.
