Happy New Year!!! I know it's a few days late...
In Like March
Remember an ol' saying about how March comes in? Like if it comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb. Right now I could care less about March, but I hope the new year is like that. I've not had a good time since my last post....well, not having a good time now. I am surviving! So if 2007 comes in like a lion, will it go out like a lamb?
I ended up back in the hospital around December 27th due to a killer migraine. The Stadol Cocktail worked again, but I came home and my computer was screwed up. My AV was off with a server failure. My malware protection was turned off and I couldn't update it. Sign of a trojan, huh? I don't know how my defenses went down, but I think it was due to someone coming in here when I wasn't up and about and doing something, or going somewhere, they shouldn't have. Maybe it was me when all drugged up. I can tell you that if you read a message in Hotmail, don't delete it while reading because it will automatically open the next message in line. If that message has something bad in it, you just got it. Thanks Hotmail and McAfee! I might become a Linux and Ubuntu user yet (I know that there's vulnerabilities in every system, but none have as many as Windows.). Anyway, back to the story...
The water heater went out around 8pm on December 31st. I broked the dryer vent and exterior hood while replacing the water heater on January 2nd. The migraine started beating me up again the day I came home, and then my oldest son came home with some bug that now has me coughing up some blood again (bronchitis). The cortizone shot in my shoulder lasted about 2 weeks and it's hurting again. My doctor appointment yesterday got me scheduled for surgery on my rotator cuff on the 18th.
Did I say that my head is killing me? It's got to start going uphill, but maybe that will be near the end of the year....you know, like near the end of March thing. I don't know if anyone will understand that, but there you go.
Meat Tenderizer
A good thing that happened is that we got to try out my new meat tenderizer. We processed our last two deer by only making burger and boneless tenderized steaks; even tenderized the finger steaks out of the tenderloin. My Hunni has already cooked some up (twice since then) and it's been delicious. The tenderizer earned its place in our small butcher shop. I'll have to blog about our shop someday...we have some nice ways of doing up meat that most butchers won't do for their clients without lots of extra charges (like tenderizing all the boneless steaks), but since we do it for ourselves, then we'll do all that extra stuff (even vacuum pack everything and increase the freezer life and prevent freezer burn).
2007 Microsoft MVP Award
I received notice that I won the 2007 Microsoft MVP Award on January 1st. Okay, so maybe the thread about going to Linux was idle. The award was for my Windows - PC Gaming technical support. I've got alot more stuff to learn about the award and its benefits, but really pleased with that. Visit here to learn more about it.
The FogWalker needs to move away from the light....
